Occupation: After serving in WWI, Bojas Oksner entered the retail sales business in various areas and positions. When he and Bertha were married, he lived in Cape Girardeau. After the birth of Chester, his first born, the family was living in Cape Girardeau, MO, then moved to Illinois, Minnesota and Esterville, IA where they lived for about 7 years and where Bo managed a department store. During WWII, the family moved to Rochester, MN where Bo went into partnership with another man and operated a retail sales store.
Military Service: On September 6, 1918, Bo was inducted into the Army at St. Louis, MO as a Private. Upon separation on January 29, 1919, at Camp Funston, KS, he was issued a Bronze Victory Button and paid $96.75. He served as a clerk, but played a horn in the band (but only had learned to play a violin in NYC when first arriving from Poland in 1910). Because he had served faithfully in the US Military, he was automatically issued a Certificate of Naturalization #1317154, dated December 17, 1920. He was lived at 1900 Wagoner Place, St. LOouis, MO, and was described as 23 years old, 5 feet 2 1/2 inches tall, black hair and brown eyes. [Petition Vol. 85, Number 9280.]
